beyond music

As part of the beyond economy Festival, we host a benefit concert in the evening from 8 pm with our partner Concerto21. A journey from modern classical through jazz to pop music. Proceeds go to the Concerto21 Foundation for scholarships for engaged artists.

Piano

Shuteen Erdenebaatar

The sun rises.
With her debut album “Rising Sun,” pianist Shuteen Erdenebaatar – originally from Mongolia and based in Munich since 2018 – played her way straight into the audience’s hearts. Her thorough musical training at an elite school in Ulan Bator was followed by intensive jazz studies in Munich. In her piano playing, Shuteen brings together the best of both worlds, mixing them in equally somnambulistic and dreamlike ways. With her quartet, she promptly won the German Jazz Prize 2024.
Accordion

Goran Stevanovich

The breath of the world.
Accordionist Goran Stevanovich promises strong contrasts and unexpectedly broad variety in his new solo program. On his breathing instrument, he effortlessly bridges geographic and stylistic distances, from his Bosnian homeland to Argentina, from modern classical to pop. The acoustic panorama spans from harmonium- to didgeridoo-like sounds. Goran Stevanovich plays his own compositions, and also enchants his audience with music by Philip Glass, Astor Piazzolla, Depeche Mode, and Jamiroquai.

Hosting the benefit concert

As moderator, Annekatrin Hentschel presents numerous cultural events such as open-air, prizewinner, and conversation concerts.

From her earliest childhood, her heart has beat for music. She has made this passion her profession: she is editor, moderator, and coach in the field of culture and classical music. For 10 years, she has led SWEET SPOT at BR-Klassik (Bavarian Broadcasting), a young editorial team whose mission is to reach younger audiences with new formats and presentation styles around classical, film, and game music.

In addition, Annekatrin Hentschel works as a lecturer at the Concerto21 Summer Academy and is on the board of trustees of the Concerto21 Foundation, where she advocates for young artists.

The benefit concert is included in your Festival ticket. If you can only come to the concert in the evening, you can buy a separate concert ticket for €35. Just click the button!

Where else does this exist? A music scholarship for which you cannot apply, that promises neither a one-time nor a regular financial grant to its scholarship holders, and that only really gets going when the recipients actively and continuously contribute – with their whole personality, drive, and artistic vision? Yes, such a thing exists, here in Germany: the “Concerto21” Foundation, established in 2022 by three engaged representatives from business and culture and attached as a fiduciary foundation to the Alfred Toepfer Stiftung F.V.S, one of Germany’s most significant patron institutions. Over a period of three years, the “Concerto21” Foundation provides funds for concrete, coherently conceived, and meaningful projects of its hand-picked scholarship holders, where necessary in considerable amounts. The foundation also offers them the concentrated expertise of its trustees as a human resource on all questions of musical life. A treasure trove of experience that cannot be measured in money.

The “Concerto21” Foundation loves the boundless variety and individuality of musical forms of expression. Six young artistic personalities have been admitted to the funding program so far, and you’ll experience two of them in concert at the “beyond economy Festival.”

Concerto21 Foundation

“Concerto21” is looking for generous co-founders as additional contributors who, with heart and intellect, want to support what is special in young artists. Patrons who, out of their own abundance, can pass something on to people who burst with ideas, ability, and courage for the future, but lack the means to move the mountains that sometimes still stand in their way. Become part of the “Concerto21” success story, give us your trust, and let us become partners! Because perhaps what drives us when it comes to music and the people who create it moves you too: we take music personally.
